Aggregating Web Services with Active Invocation and Ensembles of String Distance Metrics

چکیده
The adoption of standards for exchanging information across the web could present a new world of opportunities for data integration and aggregation systems, the deployment of which could be greatly simplified using Web Service protocols. Although Web Services simplify the discovery and access of information sources, the problem of semantic heterogeneity remains: how to find semantic correspondences within the data being integrated. In this paper, we propose OATS, a novel algorithm for schema matching that is specifically suited to Web Service data aggregation. We show how probing Web Services with a small set of related queries results in contextually similar data instances which greatly simplifies the matching process, and demonstrate that the use of an ensemble of string distance metrics in matching data instances performs better than individual metrics. We also propose a method for adaptively combining distance metrics, and evaluate OATS on a large number of real-world Web Service operations.

Semi - Automatically Annotating Semantic Web Services ( Extended
The semantic Web Services vision requires that each service be annotated with semantic metadata. Various metadata languages (such as OWL-S (DAML-S Coalition 2003)) have been proposed to fill this “semantic gap”. However, manually creating such metadata is tedious and error-prone. Software engineers, accustomed to tools that automatically generate WSDL, might not want to invest the required effo...

In this paper the design and implementation of fault tolerable architecture for scientific workflow engines is presented. The engines are assumed to be implemented as composite web services. Current architectures for workflow engines do not make any considerations for substituting faulty web services with correct ones at run time. The difficulty is to rollback the execution state of the workflo...

متن کاملActive UDDI - An Extension to UDDI for Dynamic and Fault-Tolerant Service Invocation
UDDI, Universal Description, Discovery, and Integration, represents a directory for the publication and querying of categorized Web services. Publication and query are performed by utilizing UDDI’s Application programming interface (API), which employs SOAP as a communication instrument. By offering an invocation API in addition to two other types for examination, UDDI allows clients to search ...
متن کاملMeasuring Availability of Mobile Web Service
--Adapting present Web services to the mobile environment has raised new Quality of Service (QoS) challenges for both service provider and requester. In a mobile Web services (MWS) scenario, a successful service invocation will depend on (1) service application (2) condition of mobile network and (3) capabilities of mobile device. Hence, from a client perspective, the availability of a service ...
